Choosing a Side

What does the pro side say/think/believe?
- Increase Achievement
- Care for the whole student
o Including moral, religious and physical aspects in addition to intellectual needs
- Higher achievement of standardized tests
- Spend less money per student
- Effective for those in poor public school systems, such as in inner-cities
- Parish is often community centered

What does the con side say/think/believe?
- Select superior students
- Facing financial distress as employment of nuns decreases
- Enrollment is decreasing exponentially
- Many middle and lower class families can no longer afford tuition
- Significant negative effects on high school drop out

I will be arguing on behalf of Parish schools. There is significantly more support for Catholic schools. Their positive effects on students are evident in several areas. Students enrolled in private catholic schools are taught in a wholesome matter, addressing not only academics but also moral and religious aspects. In addition, these students score higher on standardized tests. Therefore, I feel that these parish schools are a benefit to both catholic and non-catholic communities.
